Funny Story About Antibiotics and Testicles

We adopted a dog from HSNT a few days ago. Received a full medical record including everything that had been done to the dog. All that was left to do was a 2nd round of vaccines. Easy as pie, or so we thought. 

The day after coming home, Dexter looked to have kennel-cough. Another couple of days later and he was not eating and showing signs of something seriously wrong, so we took him to the vet. He was running a high fever and needed antibiotics, but that wasn’t all that was uncovered. 

For the last few days, Rachel and I have noticed that there was still machinery down there. We were obviously confused. The paperwork said he was altered. If he had been fixed, why are there still… balls hanging there? So, we did what any millennial does when faced with a problem, we consulted the internet. 

Turns out there is a lot of information out there about how procedures nowadays are different. That sometimes there is still a hanging sack and sometimes what looks like nuts might just be swelling. So, we didn’t think anything of it until the vet told us “there are definitely testicles there.” He checked twice to be sure. 😳

Now, we have Dex on antibiotics AND will be getting him re-fixed soon.
